Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) panels, also known as ATS cabinets, are designed to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to consumers in the event of a primary power source failure. These panels facilitate the switching to a backup power line. A notable feature of these panels is the automatic reversion to the main power source once its functionality is restored, coupled with the equipment’s minimal cost.

Such cabinets are advisable for use across various communication facilities, industrial enterprises, and transportation companies. The panel also serves to provide energy to consumers categorized under the first and second tiers.

Application Scope of ATS Panels

The use of panels is justified in several instances. Their application includes:

  • Maintaining constant voltage monitoring in backup (generator) and primary power circuits through the ATS panel;
  • Continuously comparing current values that distinguish the primary from the backup power sources, with the ability to preset maximum and minimum acceptable values;
  • Monitoring the correct phase alternation of primary and backup power sources (generators);
  • Automatically restoring power supply through the connection of a backup power source (generator) in less than one second. It’s important to note that the choice of power source type is operator-commanded;
  • Facilitating visual monitoring of voltage presence, contact activation for load switching, and phase control.

Characteristics

Configurations account for the following switching scenarios:

  • General connection through the panel (cabinet equipment) of both main and emergency consumers to the same power source;
  • Separate connection of primary and emergency consumers, where normal power supply occurs through the panels, bypassing the switching station via generator.

Depending on the type of current for normal and emergency power, the panels ensure:

  • DC power supply for both primary and emergency sources via generator;
  • AC power supply for primary and emergency sources through the cabinet;
  • Main power supply through the panel in AC form, both single and three-phase.

Construction
